Our History

since 1948

Where it all began

Massey Coldbeck was established over 70 years ago in 1948 by our founders Stanley Coldbeck and William Massey, we first opened our doors at small premises on Hart Street in Liverpool City Centre and our first clients were a mixture of local commercial and industrial concerns. Our customer base quickly expanded during these first years which enabled us to move to larger premises in Tuebrook just outside the City Centre, our work during this time was mainly based within the ship repair industry and other various industrial clients throughout Lancashire.

In 1972 the Company relocated to new premises in Knowsley, on Knowsley Industrial Park a well-established industrial area close to Liverpool city centre, from there we continued to grow our business and expanded our services so much so that in 1980 we opened a Sales Warehouse in Kirkby and a second workshop based in Manchester to better support our clients there.

In the 1980s we joined and are proud to be members of the A.E.M.T (The Association of Electrical and Mechanical Trades) which represents companies in the electrical and mechanical repair service and repair industry, the A.E.M.T promotes and maintains quality standards throughout the industry.

In 2002 we acquired Frank Vowles Engineering based in Widnes and incorporated it into the Massey Coldbeck name, bolstering our workforce and presence which was now across four sites.

In 2015 we made the decision to relocate again and to combine our workshops into one main site while retaining our Sales office in Kirkby, the result of which is our Engineering Head Office and Workshop located on Sherdley Business Park in St Helens, a 8,000 square foot premises located just minutes away from the M62 that not only places us in a perfect location between Liverpool and Manchester but also allows quick access to various locations across the United Kingdom.

Throughout the years we have gained various accreditations such as Constructionline Silver membership, Alcumus Safe contractor and our Quality Management system is approved to the Alcumus Isoqaar level of ISO 9001:2015, with gaining these accreditations and improving our systems of management we continue to hold to our core beliefs of constantly striving to grow and improve our business.
